Bra shopping……it may not be on top of everyone’s back-to-school shopping list….. but it’s an essential step in starting a great new school year!
This can be such a stress for mothers and daughters alike. A lot of emphasis is put on what you’re wearing on the outside but none of those adorable new fashions you buy will look their best if they’re worn over tired, ill-fitting bras. We’re here to help you step up your bra game!!!
Our goal is to make everyone feel comfortable, provide them with the support they need, and help them to look their absolute best. Here’s some bra pointers to consider as you head back to school:
Assess your current size (and situation)
It’s best to turn to an experienced bra fitter for help, but it’s still good to know what fit and style you like best. Start by dumping out the contents of your lingerie drawer and trying on each for size. Which ones fit? Are you busting out of the cups? Does the band ride up in the back? Do you need to replace one or several bras? Do you even like the bras you have?
Even if you haven’t outgrown them, chances are your old bras are worn out and still need to be replaced. If you’ve grown over the summer, you may need to start from scratch. Keep in mind what you like about the fit of your favorite bras before buying new stock.
Consider bra style
Is your personal style casual, preppy, or super feminine? Do you wear a certain uniform color? Are you ready to wear bras with wires? Do you want padding for nipple coverage? Take a look at what you like to wear and try to match it up to your ideal bra style (not unlike matching shoes to an outfit). Once you’ve found the right size and style, get dressed and make sure you like how it makes your boobs look underneath your clothes.
Don’t forget about sports bras
You don’t have to play on a team or be super athletic to be physically active. There are different styles of bra-sized(!) sports bras made for various activities, whether it be dance, yoga, lacrosse or running. Exercising without a proper sports bra can cause an irreversible breast droop – whatever your age. Between gym class and after-school sports, you may even need more than one to get you through the week.
Protect your investments
Stock up on bra wash and make a plan for how you’ll store your bras. Molded cups folded in half can be dented and crushed. Best to hang or lay them flat in a deep drawer. Ask your fitter how to best care for your selections. Your bra wardrobe will look better and last longer if you give it some tender loving care.
